Filter was formed in 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio, by Richard Patrick (singer) and Brian Liesegang (guitarist and programmer). Richard Patrick had formerly served as the touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails and left his position to form his own band. In 1995, Filter released their debut album Short Bus which went platinum, largely in part because of the success of the single “Hey Man Nice Shot”.
After the release of Short Bus, the band went through the first of several lineup changes. Richard Patrick is the only consist member of the band.
Filter is currently working on their eighth studio album. They’ve Got Us Right Where They Want Us, At Each Other’s Throats scheduled for release in spring 2023.
