Måneskin was formed in 2016 in Rome, Italy. The band started by quite literally performing in the streets of Italy and gained huge popularity after finishing runner-up in X-Factor Italy in 2017 by performing a cover of The Killers’ “Somebody Told Me.” They then went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Zitti e buoni.” They became popular in America with the hit single, “I Wanna Be Your Slave” in 2021 and received their first Grammy Nomination in the “Best New Artist” category.
Fun Fact: Lead singer David Damiano shares a birthday with music icons Elvis Presley and David Bowie – January 8th.
Even though the band is Italian, the name Måneskin (pronounced mahn-uh-skin), is Danish. It means “moonlight.”
