Irish musician Hozier, born Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, burst onto the music scene with his 2013 single “Take Me To Church.” The track not only catapulted him to stardom but also earned him a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year in 2015. Known for his rich, soulful voice, Hozier blends folk, soul, and blues to create a unique sound. His debut self-titled album, released in 2014, achieved multi-platinum status worldwide.
Hozier is also recognized for weaving political, literary, and social justice themes into his music. His 2019 album, “Wasteland Baby!”, topped the Billboard 200 in the US, confirming his status as a significant figure in contemporary music. He was named VH1 Artist of the Year in 2015 based on fan votes.
His latest EP, Unheard, which features four songs including, “Too Sweet”, “Wildflower and Barley” featuring Allison Russel, “Empire Now”, and “Fare Well” was released on March 22, 2024. “Too Sweet” was the hit of the four, debuting at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100. This was his first song to debut within the top five, as well as his second top five entry since “Take Me To Church”. Three weeks after debuting, “Too Sweet’ rose to number one, making Hozier the fourth Irish artist to top the chart.
