Barenaked Ladies is a Canadian rock band that rose to fame in the early 1990s with their debut album Gordon, featuring popular tracks like “If I Had $1,000,000” and “Brian Wilson,” released in 1992. Since their formation in 1988, the band has sold over 15 million albums and singles, producing hits such as “The Old Apartment,” “One Week,” “It’s All Been Done,” and “Pinch Me.” They were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
Originally a duo consisting of Ed Robertson and Steven Page, the band expanded in 1990 with the addition of brothers Jim and Andy Creeggan and drummer Tyler Stewart. In 1995, Kevin Hearn replaced Andy Creeggan when he left the band. After Steven Page’s departure, the group became a quartet.
Barenaked Ladies’ musical style has evolved over the years from strictly acoustic to a blend of pop, rock, hip-hop, and rap. They are known for their humorous lyrics and eclectic sound. The band remains active, continually touring and releasing new music. Their latest album, In Flight, released on September 15, 2023, is their fourteenth studio album and includes singles like “Lovin’ Life” and “One Night.”
