Platinum-selling Flyleaf was formed in 2002 and hails from Belton, Texas. They’ve charted on mainstream rock, Christian pop, and Christian metal genres. Lacey Sturm fronted the band from the beginning up until 2012 and was replaced by vocalist Kristen May. May fronted Flyleaf until 2016, and the band went inactive for a few years. Sturm made her return to the band in 2018.
While the Christian faith influences them, they aren’t necessarily a Christian band. Singer Lacey Sturm has said that the band is just some Christians who play rock music and that they play for everybody.
Fun Fact: The word Flyleaf is a term for the blank pages at the beginning of a book before the story and at the end of a book, as it represents a moment of clarity. The band’s original name was Listen.
