Fall Out Boy hail from the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Illinois, and was formed in 2001. The band includes lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, lead guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.
Fall Out Boy’s debut album, Take This to Your Grave was released in 2003 and became an underground success. Through heavy touring, the band was able to gain a dedicated fan base. In 2005, they released their major-label breakthrough, From Under the Cork Tree, which produced two hit singles, “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “Dance, Dance”. The album went double platinum, and transformed the group into superstars.
Their 3rd album, Infinity on High, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2007. The album included two worldwide hit singles, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” and “Thnks fr th Mmrs”. Fall Out Boy’s fourth album Folie à Deux was released in 2008 and received a mixed response. The band went on hiatus for a little over 3 years (2009 – 2013) as the members worked on side projects.
In 2013, Fall Out Boy returned with Save Rock and Roll which became their second number-one album and included the top 20 single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)”. They followed that success with their sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho in 2015 which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200. The album spawned another top-10 hit called “Centuries”, along with the single “Uma Thurman”. Fall Out Boy’s most recent release, Mania (2018), peaked at No. 1. The album became the band’s fourth No. 1 album and sixth consecutive top 10 album.
Fall Out Boy has been nominated for 2 Grammy Awards but has yet to win. They have won numerous other awards including a handful MTV Video Music Awards, a People’s Choice Award, an American Music Award, ALT-Press awards, and a handful of Kerrang! awards.
